The holidays are here…what should you pitch?

20131213_114048It’s that time of year again – end-of-the-year vacation schedules, hitting year-end goals and of course, the hustle and bustle of the holidays. It’s easy to get lost in the shuffle of it all, but now is one of the best times to get your company’s name out there.

With many offices shutting down and taking a break to celebrate the season, reporters this time of year are looking for story ideas across the board. Put some bullets together in an email, and let your local reporters know you have people available if they’re interested in an interview or story over the holidays.

No matter what industry you serve, here are four ways to get started:

Think about the past year – What trends did you notice in your industry, and can they be tied in with your company? (Think along the lines of “a look back…”)

Think about hot seasonal topics – What is relevant in your industry during the winter months? How can you position your company as an expert on certain topics? (Think tips, best practices, etc.)

Don’t forget about the feel-good stories – How is your company giving back during the holiday season? Are you holding any drives, special events, etc.?

Think about the year ahead – What trends can be expected in the New Year? Is your company headed toward big changes?

What other ideas do you have?
