I could
write about the elections but decided that everyone else and their
mother is probably doing that, has done that or about to. With that in
mind, I was thinking about this coming Friday and our hosting of about
15 students coming in from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. With
election burnout upon me, I am skipping right through writing about the
elections and looking forward to this visit. (Don't get me wrong, I
plan to vote.)
The 15 students are all members of UW-SP's PRSSA chapter. They are
pursuing public relations as a career and want to learn more about the
field, our PR agency, how we work and the ins and outs of social media.
I also suspect they will have more than a few questions. Despite our
dire warning that our office is big enough to house a fly and
expressing to them that we are a small start up- they still want to
come and visit.
OK-so we don't have enough room in our office to safely welcome all
15, nor do we have our informal presentation worked out That's OK.
Those are the details I refuse to sweat. What I do know is that we are
excited to welcome them to our office, with open arms. To be able to
share our profession with them, firsthand as a small business start up,
and all of the enthusiasm that goes with it--is priceless. And, if
there are one or two students that will stay in Wisconsin to pursue
their dreams-then our work is done.
So, while the election is certainly exciting, it's this opportunity
to meet with students that gets me really fired up. Inspiring students
is the hope and change I'm looking for-a place I can really make a
difference.
